LOCATION OF SHOOT
CHOSEN PICTURE
Costume
- I chose the colours of black and white because of the connotations of each, white suggesting purity and angelic features which contrasts with the sensual feel of the title of the magazine and the themes within rom-com films being the sexual nature of relationships. The black also suggests the sensual nature of relationships and the conflicts within them.
Locations
- The location of the photoshoot captures the happiness found within the rom-com film genre but also the unity of a relationship mirrored through the grass because grass all cluster together in unity like a couple. Within the park and the field there is picture of peace which is what a lot of the couples in rom-com films reciprocate to each other. I also liked the little flowers surrounding the model because it emulates a flirtatious energy which is on brand with the magazine and genre.
Lighting
- The lighting was kept very bright to portray an uplifting and joyful tone
Facial expressions and body language
- I chose for the model to cover her face because i feel the element of mystery is very prominent within rom-com films when trying to pursue a love interest and i am trying to deeply embed the traits and conventions of the rom-com genre and films into the magazine.
Hair and makeup
- Although you are unable to view the model's face her makeup was kept very natural and clean to implement purity and innocence contrasting with the Masthead, her hair was kept free and unrestricted to convey the freedom within the feeling of being in a healthy relationship and in love, the main focus within rom-com.
Color palette
- Green: The green conveys an uplifting and happy intent but also a colour of healing which is what love can do for some couples therefore i chose this background to portray the tranquility love brings through healing. The White of the flowers and the model's clothes present the idea of innocence and delicacy, this mirrors how some of the female characters in rom-com films are portrayed to obtain their interest.
Layout and design- The model is in the middle of the photo because i want her to be the main forcus of the image not the surroundings and she is the main focis for the magazine to promote her as a young, indie actor.
CONTESTANT PICTURES
PICTURE 1:
- I didn't choose this picture because, although it has all of the relevant colours for the rom-com genre, i think the setting within the park is not as romantic as the picture i've chosen which is secluded - this picture is too accessible and open which is the opposite to how some rom-com characters portray themselves in the films.
Why i didn't use this picture:
- This picture has the same reasoning than the previous however this photo has an element of awkwardness that i don't like portrayed through the positioning of the model's arm.
PICTURE 3:
- The model's phone was in the photo which i didn't realise, this makes the photo look ammature and messy. I also think that the arms being open eliminates the element of mystery or restraint whilst are usually themes within rom-com films. I also think the lighting was too dull for the genre and front cover.
- Again the model's phone was in the frame making the photo look unprofessional. I also was not happy with the camera angle because you are able to see the ground that is not covered with grass which makes the picture look inconsistent.

Codes and conventions for the double page spread in relation to the rom-com genre
As seen in the photo the model is to one side of it, following the conventions of a double page spread as the writing will be on the adjacent side to where the model is placed, to avoid any overlapping with the model or the spine of the magazine. The photo is also landscape as it will cover two pages of the magazine. Within the double page spread photo i have blurred out everything on the book to zoom in on the aspect of love and the colours such as pink, white and red to emphasise the theme of love as these colours are associated within the rom-com films and love.

Interview Q&A with actor Georgia Matthews
Q: "How did you know you wanted to be an actor?"
A: "Ever since i was little i've been always been the kid that was never really academic but was always dancing and singing since i could walk and talk, i got into musical theatre and i was in stage school from the ages of 5-14 and i felt like it was my calling because i felt so passionate about music and performance and was never interested in academia- i was in theatre performances such as 'Matilda' and 'Wicked' when i was younger despite the parts being small i was overjoyed just to be apart of it because i thought this was going to be the big break at 10 years old hahaha- boy was i wrong! So from then i got signed to an agency and was so happy and that was when the acting began. I was working so hard so be the best actor i could be as well as a great student but when it came to college i turned to acting school and it was the best decision i ever made, my agency was very helpful and the jobs started rolling, despite all the rejections, however they were more of a lesson which has helped me improve drastically, which has lead me to be in small roles in indie films and a Netflix show and i am so proud of the journey that has taken me here."
Q: "What was your big break?"
A: "Like i said previously, me being ambitious at 10 years old, i thought i had my big break when i was in theatre in 'Matilda' and 'Wicked' because of course that was a big accomplishment for me in general but especially at 10 years old. But i do really believe that i haven't had my big break yet despite being in Netflix shows and indie movies merely due to the fact that i have extremely high expectations for myself and won't believe i've had my big break until i am the main character within a film which may sound silly but it's just the way my brain works hahahah, but that does not mean i am not grateful for what i already have accomplished because i most definitely am, such as the Netflix show 'Abandoned' that i was in which is my biggest achievement up to date."
Q: "Have you ever had issues with someone you've worked on set with?"
A: "Very good question, well i have never hated anyone that i have worked with however a lot of people in the film industry are a little entitled which can make it difficult to work with them when their head is so big hahahaha, but i always remained professional and refrained from saying anything because it would be much more difficult to act together if they knew i had a bad feeling about them, so to answer your question, i haven't had an issue with anyone i've worked with however someone that caused me annoyance is another story. Similar answer for your question, i have had a romantic relationship with one of my co-stars and when that ended it made it a little bit awkward on set but it was manageable in the end."
Q: "How are you when it comes to dealing with role/audition rejections"
A: "I'm going to be so honest, i used to be a really sore loser when i was younger and i used to cry to my parents when i wouldn't get a call back or a rejection hahaha, but as you grow up you learn to take it on the chin and accept it because you're not going to be the best fit for every role and you just understand that that's okay and completely normal as you get older into the acting world. Within this industry it's not an unknown fact that it's difficult meaning that it is also extremely competitive and you go into it knowing that, so if you become disappointed by not getting a role you wanted, don't be because there are 15 others who didn't get it either because of how competitive it really is and that is just the approach that i take towards rejections because the life is too short to be hung up on rejections when there is another one round the corner waiting for you."
Q: "Lastly, what advice would you give to aspiring actors"
A: " Well... i think just remember that acting is meant to be a fun job, of course it is difficult and heavy at times but if you actually don't take it too seriously you will do better as you're having fun and you're not thinking about everything that you could do wrong by overthinking, so have fun with it rather than trying to master it, because you can't master it, that comes with time and of course hard work but mostly time and experience which you can't rush, so just have fun and don't try to become the best of the best because you will do that without trying i guarantee."
