FINAL FRONT COVER
CODES AND CONVENTIONS/ STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
My target audience are primarily women aged 18-40 within North London because of the mature nature of the masthead on the magazine. The front cover has been created to attract my target audience through the codes and conventions used, the coverlines of the front cover relate to the age demographic as it refers to panic and stress and how the magazine and the new indie film promoted can help ease that tension within life- this relates to the target audience because of the hardships of worklife therefore i wanted to be able to help relief them with the contents of the magazine. On the other hand i think that a strength of my front cover is that it represents the rom-com genre well through the colours of red, white and pink, colours that are typically involved within rom-com films and love, thus making it appealing to the given target audience.
The font of the masthead is quite bold to be eye catching to the reader as well as quite flirtatious and feminine which equates perfectly to the female target audience being the primary audience, the fonts of the coverlines i think exhibit a classy appeal to the magazine which is what i desired to portray. i have also included the streaming platform netflix to promote it as a platform to watch the indie film.
Although i believe i have executed the rom-com genre successfully through the front cover a weakness of the front cover would be that the background doesn't have enough colour to it, i think the background should of had more colourful flowers to create a happier effect.
FINAL DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
CODES AND CONVENTIONS/ STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
The double page spread primarily focuses on the new indie film promoted and includes and interview with the female lead and model (of the magazine) Georgia Matthews. The interview is to the right side of the page to avoid any overlap into the spine of the magazine, it is in an easy to read colour and font to cater to the audience's needs. The questions are also in red to one, remain on theme with the rom-com genre and love as red is a supposed primary colour of love, and two, to differ the response to the question. The interview does not contain any derogatory language, slander or violence to avoid any mistakes of children reading it, it is an enjoyable and entertaining interview for the target audience to get an insight into the actor's life as they will understand the complexities within life as they are older and may be able to relate.
There is also a QR code attached on the double page spread which contains the full interview digitally for the reader to watch if they choose as this is allows the reader to have autonomy on how they listen to the interview. The new streaming platform is also mentioned to promote it and promote the film on the platform.
Strengths of the double page spread is that the colours maintain the rom-com genre to allow the readers to fully immerse themselves in the magazine and the layout of the double page spread makes it easy for the reader to read as it is clear and concise. A weakness of the double page spread is that more of the interview couldn't fit all on on the page and the font isn't bold enough, however it is still readable just not bold enough.
